To the Editor:
When I was serving two combat tours in Korea with the Second Infantry Division and the First Cavalry Division, the first question from my fellow GIs was, “Where are you from?” I would proudly answer, Hull, Massachusetts.
After the 1978 blizzard, I was the government official in charge of the insurance team that represented the federal and state governments in the local community. We assisted almost a 1,000 families in Hull with their insurance claims. I felt a kinship with those people.
My nephew, Dr. John F. Gould III, a product of the Hull school system, has the knowledge and the experience to provide leadership as the Hull High School principal during this crucial period for our Hull students.
The two finalists who are the candidates of the school department do not have a doctorate, nor are they as familiar with Hull as John.
I ask my fellow Hullonians to support somebody with Hull roots and the most qualified candidate for Hull High principal, Dr. John F. Gould III.
