The 8th Grade Boys Travel team took home the number-one spot in the South Shore Boys Basketball league, winning the final playoff game against Hingham on Sunday, March 13. The team had an excellent season entering the playoffs as a top seed and took it all the way home.
Boys Travel Grades 5th, 6th and 7th all made it to the second round of playoff games on Saturday.
Girls Travel Grade 4 made it to round-one playoff game on Saturday. The previous week, on March 3 and 4, Girls Travel Grades 5-8 played first-round playoff games in town, as Hull was a host site for the South Shore Girls Travel League with a total of eight first-round playoff games in the Jacobs Elementary gym.
For our Intown program, last Saturday we had an exciting day, with four highly competitive championship games! Our Jr. Girls and Sr. Boys division games came down to the last second with baskets in the air scoring to break a tie or shift the points for the win.
Jr. Boys and Sr. Girls were close games, too, with the winning teams taking the games by just two to three points. Each division held skills competitions, challenging players to complete as many passing or shooting drills within a minute. First-, second-, and third-place winners of these contests took home gift certificates to The Good Sport in Cohasset. So much fun and excitement for all players!
Another highlight was the coaches’ game. It was a blast to see our high school and parent volunteers pick up the ball and hit the court together as teams – going all the way to double overtime! This game got everyone involved with a great turnout of spectators who were supportive, cheering on family and friends. HPYB raised just over $1,600 in the 50/50 coaches game raffle. This is great contribution to support programming for our organization.
