As fall sports teams began preparation for their season to begin in two short weeks, the boys (and girls) of summer are not quite done. Hull Youth Baseball will have its traditional end-of-the-season celebration this coming Sunday with its family cookout and festivities, beginning at L Street Field at 4 p.m. All players and families from the 2021 season are invited to participate.
The festivities will include inflatable activities, an ice cream truck, and the traditional home run derby and all-star game. The popular derby will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the all-star game at 6.
“We had an amazing in-town spring season, followed by an impressive summer travel season, which saw our under-12 team win the championship and the under-10s reach the semi-finals,” said HYB president Dave Gibbons. “We have a lot to celebrate.”
Youth teams have adults’ support
On Saturday, three adult co-ed softball teams will go to bat for Hull Youth Softball, Hull Youth Baseball, and the Hull Park and Rec Scholarship program at its second annual softball fundraiser. The tournament, a double elimination format, will begin at 9 a.m. at L Street Field. The following sponsors have donated gift cards for the 50/50 raffle to support the cause: Tie Dye by Abby, Local 02045, Schooners, Sandbar, Hull’s Kitchen, Crave, Weinbergs, Saltwater Diner, The Parrot, Daddy’s Beach Club, Shipwrecked, Mambos, California Underground, Nantasket Seafood, Nantasket Hardware, To Dine For, Hull Auto, L Street Pizza, Scoops, and Nantasket Flowers.
Hull Boosters events
The fourth Hull High Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will be honored on Saturday, Nov. 27, at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham and will also be recognized during the Thanksgiving football game on Nov. 25. Nominations for this year’s class are due by Sept. 1.
The Hull Boosters will have a meat raffle fundraiser at the Cathay Center in Weymouth on Oct. 16, from 4:30-7 p.m.
The Boosters will also hold their annual sticker drive on Saturday, Sept. 4. All Hull High School fall athletes are asked to be at the school at 1 p.m. that day to start canvassing the community to sell Hull Boosters’ stickers.
Fall season previews to come
