Donated supplies, furnishings on sale in decent condition, affordable prices
For the college-bound who may be setting up their dorm rooms and for students who may be shopping for back-to-school supplies, the Wellspring Multi-Service Center thrift shop can be a helpful resource for those budding consumers.
All items sold in the Hull shop, at 814 Nantasket Ave., and in Wellspring’s Weymouth shop are donated. The revenue generated directly funds the programs and services offered by Wellspring to residents of Hull and beyond.
“Donations come from individuals in the community who want their pre-loved items to have a new life for a good cause,” Wellspring’s communications and development associate, Tess Fasanello, told The Hull Times.
The thrift shop accepts items that are in saleable condition, including some school supplies, household and kitchen items, furniture, clean in-season clothing, linens and towels, art, jewelry, books, and unscratched CDs and DVDs.
The overall inventory in the shops changes continuously, “and there are beautiful, great-quality finds,” Fasanello says.
Pieces of furniture in excellent condition, such as kitchen tables, hutches, and couches, are sold at affordable prices for families furnishing their homes and for young adults setting up apartments.
Within the past week, a donor dropped off several individual bags of school supplies, including notebooks and crayons for elementary school-age children, asking that they be donated directly to families in need.
“Wellspring plans to identify those families and allocate these bags accordingly,” Fasanello explains.
Appropriately for the back-to-school season, the thrift shop has a small display of school supplies for sale, including binders, notebooks, pens, pencils, and children’s books.
Donations of school supplies and dorm-room furnishings from the community are especially welcome as the shop attempts to enhance its limited offerings of those items in support of individuals and families who may be struggling during these challenging times.
Those in need of school supplies, and those who would like to donate such items, are encouraged to contact Wellspring at 781-925-3211.
Hull thrift shop hours are as follows: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The hours at Wellspring’s Weymouth thrift shop, located 409 Washington St., are: Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
