The Massachusetts Council on Aging recently offered grants through an open competitive application process to up to 30 councils on aging in the state. The Hull Council on Aging was selected among the grant recipients for the program “Living Your Best Life,” a resiliency training course for this spring and summer.
“Living Your Best Life” is a 10-week program with a one one-hour class per week. The course contains 10 tools, which are the foundation for the course, and will host guest/expert speakers on most of the 10 tool topics.
The program will cover topics such as “Connect with Others,” “Stay Positive,” “Get Physically Active,” “Help Others,” “Get Enough Sleep,” “Create Joy and Satisfaction,” “Eat Well,” “Take Care of Your Spirit,” “Deal Better with Hard Times,” and “Get the Help You Need.”
Classes with be facilitated by expert guest speakers. Class structure includes the facilitator and/or guest/expert speaker, who will provide information on the tool/topic. There will be opportunity for group discussion for peer-to-peer learning.
The participants will receive notebooks to use as their individualized Resiliency Toolkit and, at the end of the course, will receive a gift. Participants will select new strategies/practices to build and add to their resiliency toolkits.
Class size will be small to accommodate social distancing in accordance with COVID-19 gathering requirements or the program can be offered virtually, depending on those interested. Space is limited.
