I would like to express my admiration and gratitude to the members of the Hull Garden Club.
I reached out to the HGC to offer my assistance a few weeks before their annual plant sale. I was extremely impressed with their response to me (via Candice “Candy” Barone) and with not only their willingness to have me help, but also to invite me to a meeting and a willingness (and real honor) to have me join as a club member.
I happen to have a long history of contribution and membership in specific historical societies, Friends-of-Trees, and helping at many plant sales: Groton and Harvard; The Village of East Hampton; New York City; Kennebunkport, Maine; Miami, Fla.; and Los Angeles, albeit, never having been invited to be a member of a garden club.
Hull Garden Club has been the exception, without my even asking (or asking me to first make cucumber sandwiches), the club has proven to be inclusive, all-inviting, with an admirable, intelligent, and kind group membership.
I was very impressed with its May 12 meeting, its plant sale this past Saturday, May 15, and with all their voluntary and impressive work with, and for, the Hull community.
I would strongly suggest that anyone in the Hull community who even has some time to water local town public gardens and/or to contribute plants to the annual plant sale consider membership in this wonderful and altruistic group.
Thank you again for all that you do to make magnificent Hull, and the world. a better place!
