The Hull Police Department arrested a male earlier Wednesday following a bank robbery and subsequent foot pursuit, according to Police Chief John Dunn.
Perry Hamilton, 40, of Hull, was arrested on charges of unarmed robbery and larceny from a person.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., the South Shore Regional Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from Rockland Trust Bank, located at 264 Nantasket Ave., on a report of a robbery. The caller stated that a man had just robbed the bank after handing a note to a teller and had proceeded to head out of the bank on foot toward the Paragon Carousel. A description of the subject was provided to police.
Hull police officers and units from the Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene and began a search of the area. Less than 15 minutes later, Hull Police reported they had spotted an individual, later identified as Hamilton, matching the description that had been provided by employees at the bank, and were in pursuit of him.
After a brief foot chase, Hamilton was taken into custody by Hull Police Officer Kevin Olson. He was transported to South Shore Hospital for evaluation.
