Hull Pride, an LGBTQ community nonprofit based in Hull, will hold an open public meeting this Monday, March 29, at 7 p.m. over Zoom to plan its programming for the summer months.
The virtual get-together will also be an opportunity for members of the LGBTQ+ community in Hull to hear about what Hull Pride does in terms of community outreach and events.
Hull Pride hopes to conduct a combination of virtual events, small events, rainbow flag-raising, and other activities. The nonprofit will also be deciding ways to safely celebrate Pride Month, which is marked across the world every June in honor of the Stonewall riots that took place in June 1969 in New York City.
For nearly 10 years, the organization has hosted a Hull Pride celebration at Jo’s Nautical Bar and more recently at the Hull Yacht Club. Funds raised are put toward scholarships for Hull High School seniors who are considered to be representative of Hull Pride’s values, such as diversity and inclusion.
