Hull’s Ryan Healey was selected to play for the Team USA U17 hockey team, which is currently playing in the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Healey was chosen after a weeklong tryout in Buffalo from a pool of 160 players nationwide who were born in 2004. The team opened with a pre-tournament 5-3 win over the Czech Republic, then dropped preliminary round games to Slovakia (5-2) and Sweden (5-3), before routing Germany 10-0. Healey had two assists in the contest.
Team USA will complete the tournament on Friday when its members take on the Czech Republic in the fifth-place game.
