To mark both Memorial Day and the 100th anniversary of the first services at Temple Israel Nantasket, the Jewish war veterans of Hull will be honored at an 11 a.m. ceremony on Memorial Day, May 31 at 11 a.m.
At the corner of Nantasket Avenue and Hadassah Way, Temple Israel, in cooperation with the Town of Hull, will dedicate a plaque in memory of Jewish war veterans and read the names of all of Hull’s Jewish veterans. The list will include those who made the supreme sacrifice in war, as well as those who served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces either at home or abroad, or who continue to serve.
Service to country is something that deserves due recognition from us all, and should remind us that, whatever differences we have, we are all in this together. It is up to each new generation to work to fulfill the aspirations of our forefathers – and our foremothers!
As we celebrate the dedication of this this plaque and honor the history of Temple Israel, we are mindful of the fact that Hull welcomed Jews when other communities did not. We are especially thankful for that, and service to country is but one expression of that appreciation.
All are welcome to attend.
