To the Editor:
Thank you, Hull!
There was an outpouring of generosity from our town for our first year of Senior Santa. Our goal was to bring a little light into the holiday season (Hannukah, Christmas etc.) for our homebound seniors.
Beautiful gift donations kept rolling in – blankets, scarves, gloves, goodies, handmade treasures, and more. The donations exceeded our wildest expectations. The top floor of the senior citizen building looked like a true Santa’s workshop.
For those of us involved in the project, it was a truly heart-warming experience. I know those seniors on the receiving end must have been touched by the kindness of their fellow Hullonians.
Special thanks to Rachel Gerold, the outreach coordinator at the senior center, for embracing the project and giving it her time, enthusiasm, and office space. Thanks also to our own big-hearted Senior Santa Jim Richman for all his work coordinating gift deliveries. We are truly thankful for our Senior Elf, Susan Trubiano, who launched the gift-giving effort, along with all of the warm-hearted volunteers who packed and delivered gift bags.
Thanks most of all to the good people of Hull for making it happen. It’s been a tough year, but living in such a generous, caring community has made it a lot easier.
Wishing you all a happy, safe new year,
