To the Editor:
I still am trying to figure out why we, as taxpayers, elect a five-member Select Board and then they hire an overpriced town manager to suck up what little funds we have in town.
Shame on the Select Board for not doing the job they were hired for and passing the buck to this overpriced boss they created. For 20 years, this town manager has been depleting the budget every year with his high-priced salary and another stipend for management of the light plant. When is he going to fix the Town Hall that he has meetings in that has been falling apart for the last 60 years? Or bring some plan for Hull to produce its own energy? Wind, solar, or water power are all around for us to use as power sources!
This town could be in a lot better shape if we cut down on administrative salaries. This is a small town with a small tax base, but yet we pay more out than what we receive in infrastructure improvements yearly. Time to rethink about our government at home here a lot more and try and fix these issues.
The Town of Hingham has a three-member Select Board with a town manager getting paid half of what our leader receives.
