The Trustees of Reservations this week announced an opportunity to hear world-class blues at Weir River Farm in Hingham on Saturday, Oct. 23, when Anthony Geraci and the Boston Blues All-Stars will perform.
The Boston All-Stars features 2021 Blues Music Award-winning pianist Anthony Geraci, who has played behind some of the most influential blues musicians of the 20th century. He is an original member of both Sugar Ray & the Bluetones and Ronnie Earl & the Broadcasters and has been recognized for his contributions on numerous albums with nominations from both the Blues Foundation’s Blues Music Awards and the Grammys.
Geraci is joined by Monster Mike Welch on guitar, Paul Loranger on bass, John Vanderpool on saxophone, and Kurt Kalker on drums – all seasoned veterans of the international blues scene.
“We play original music,” says Geraci. “This isn’t a jam where we get together to rehash the standards, so I’m relying on these guys to interpret and build on what I’ve written. You need excellent musicians to create something fresh. We have a great time playing together.”
Opening for the Boston Blues All-Stars will be the Erin Harpe Country Blues Duo, featuring award-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist Erin Harpe and her husband and longtime musical partner, Jim Countryman.
The concert will take place outdoors, in the lower lawn next to the Weir River Farm Red Barn, from 3-5:30 p.m. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 24. Food and beverages will be provided by Wanderlust food truck and Vitamin Sea Brewing. Audience members are encouraged to pack picnic blankets and folding chairs and leave an extra 10-15 minutes to enjoy the walk down to the barn from the parking field at 140 Turkey Hill Lane. Anyone needing accessible parking is encouraged to reserve a spot in the lower lot by emailing Anne at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Advance tickets are required. Tickets are $30/adult and $15/child. Trustees members receive discounted tickets of $24/adult and $12/child. Children under age 2 will be admitted free of charge.
Per state guidelines, unvaccinated individuals are advised to continue wearing face masks and to continue physical distancing.
