The Manet Community Health Center’s vaccine clinics in Hull, Quincy, and Taunton have reached a major milestone in their COVID-19 inoculation efforts by administering more than 25,000 vaccines to patients, first responders, essential workers, special groups, and community residents since December.
While Manet volunteers and staff celebrate the accomplishment, they know there is more work to be done to ensure access and vaccine promotion. Eligibility has opened to everyone age 16 and older, but vaccine reluctance and hesitancy remain an issue for significant segments of the population.
“We are humbled by the partnerships and incredibly proud of our volunteers and staff for their hard work to get this many people vaccinated in a relatively short amount of time,” said Cynthia Sierra, Manet’s chief executive officer. “We acknowledge the grief and loss in the communities secondary to COVID-19, and this propels us to work as thoughtfully, diligently, and creatively as we can – as many more individuals, families, and workers need to be vaccinated as soon as possible.
“In the coming days and weeks, as we continue to offer our stationary sites, we will tilt toward a pop-up model, add evening and weekend hours, and accommodate more walk-ins.”
Manet offers vaccine appointments for anyone age 16 and older, regardless of whether they are a Manet patient or where they live. All three approved vaccines are offered at the clinics – Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen. Registrants have the ability to select from the three depending on supply, availability, and circumstances.
Currently, the health center offers a vaccine clinic several days a week in Quincy and in Taunton. In the coming weeks, Manet will also be offering a series of vaccine clinics for Hull residents and other surrounding communities on May 12 and 26 on the lower level of Manet’s Hull practice location at 180 George Washington Blvd.
